Breaking the Knot !

(inspired by the true incident..)

It's again a lazy weekend. I was walking towards the bus stop with spicy thoughts in my mind; this was due to the rich and spicy food which I had that afternoon .This forced me to drink water again and again. As I reached the bus I got a double seat in the bus. Let's see who is my companion? Comforting myself I closed my eyes and placed my head on the seat in my front to have a nap. Exactly after five minutes I heard the voice of a small boy, who happened to sit beside me asking his father to come and sit near him.

As I turned my face towards his father, at once I shouted, 'Hey Marc! Its you. Come over here. It's lovely seeing you after such a long time'.

Marc was my school fellow. We both spent 12 years together in school. Marc was always #1 in sports and he was also #1 in studies if you started counting backwards. Always a back bencher_ was caught a number of times in cheating and other serious cases but he never gave up these habits. Let me tell you one thing about him. He was always fond of behaving in a vulgar manner, acting like a Road Side Romeo, smoking. He had many other bad habits.

Well, what was he doing there? Wait till I tell you

Me: Marc who is this little boy with u? Is he your cousin?

Marc: Yaar he is my son.

Me: I know that you can tell jokes very well but what is this new story? You must be kidding

Marc: I am serious. We are just coming from my wife's house.

Me: Really! How come this happened, when, where?

Marc: Two years back.

Me: Well, how is life? You must be busy fulfilling your duties as a husband.

Marc: You know I am a tension free person. Today still, my life is as comfortable as always. I am a 'Ghairatmand' person. I will not be dominated by my wife.

Me: I can't understand this stupid school of thought. Anyway, Isn't it too early to get married ?.

Marc: May be but ultimately I had to get married, sooner or later, it does not matter.

Me: What about your education and profession?

Marc: Yes Yaar, I will appear for the matriculation examination this year.

Me: This is extremely, strange, what about you're in laws? Do they know about this?

Marc: As u know that we live in the hospital, when I was in the 8th class, my wife came there for nursing. We both started to like each other. When she finished her graduation and went back to her home her parents decided to marry her to her cousin but she said that she wanted to marry me. Her parents came to our house and asked my parents for my hand. My marriage was fixed. My parents told my in-laws that I work as a lab technician in the hospital. But I don't.

Me: Acha, so you are working in the hospital these days.

Marc: No yaar, do you think that a handsome guy like me would work for such a cheap post as a lab tech. No Way!

Me: Then what is your source of income?

Marc: Yaar , I have applied for the U.S.A. immigration . I can't work in a country like Pakistan because we are not given freedom here in Pakistan. Being minorities we are always victimized.

Me: Marc you quite right. But we have to face all this being Christians. There is hatred but if one has the talent then there is no one who can stop you. Have you ever been tortured only because you study well? Has anyone been teased only because he/she has a reputed post? Give me any example

Marc: No I don't remember any.

Me: Yes, I agree that there is a strong hatred against us .But remember the words of JESUS, "Blessed are ye, when men shall revile you, and persecute you, and shall say all manner of evil against you falsely, for my sake ". (Matthew 5:11)

"But I say unto you, Love your enemies, bless them that curse you, and pray for them which despitefully use you, and persecute you". (Matthew 5:44)

There is no stigma attached with hard work. There is nothing bad in doing hard work. After all you are a responsible person now. You have a wife and a son now. Don't let your thinking be like good for nothing persons (the average Christian Pakistanis).

Marc: Yaar, when I will reach the States everything will be fine.

Me: And what about the present situation? How do you manage?

Marc: My parents are working.

Me: Did your wife know this before?.

Marc: No, No, before marriage I told her that I was doing a course in

Medical technology.

After all she is a nurse .When we will reach America she will get a

Good Salary there. There is a high demand of nurses over

there.

Me: When are you going to the States?

Marc: We have applied for a working visa two months ago. I will ask my brother-in-law. He will buy my wife a work permit.

Me: Are you going along with your wife and her parents? Isn't it a problem for them to support your family?

Marc: What's wrong? They came to our house for marriage not we and she is my wife, she has to be equally responsible for our livelihood. This is our personal matter and you don't have to interfere.

Me: Okay Okay .Don't get mad I was just advising you.

With this discussion we both reached our destination. May God Bless Marc and his family, with this wish I left him and returned to my home.

Time kept on passing and after six months I again happened to meet Marc. He was looking calm and happy.

Me: What's up man? How are you doing?

Marc: Fine as always and enjoying life

Me: Good. You were going to the States?

Marc: Yes but now I have changed my plan. I have given my matriculation exams and I am planning to go to U.A.E. Now a days I am doing a training in welding. I will become a millionaire when I reach there.

Me: Oh that's good. Bhabi will be very happy for this

Marc: Which Bhabi ? Doesn't u know, I got a divorce two months ago and now we are separated? And I have not let my son go with her.

Me: What are you saying?

Marc: Its true .She used to make a fuss everyday that I should start working some where and we should have a separate house. She said it's very difficult for her to manage my parents and sisters alone. I should also work some where.

Me: Why did you not fulfill her wishes?

Marc: Yes, I would have done so, but this was not her problem. She was a characterless woman and she herself wanted separation from me.

After hearing these words, I wished him Good Bye! .The situation made me to think about the fate of our Christian Community.

The young generation is doing nothing but their expectations are reaching the sky.
Not only one Marc, there are hundreds of Marcs here. The solution to the problem is to implement good moral values in the youth from an early age. Apart from parents (if they fail to inculcate this) today churches are only teaching about Salvation, Miracles and Healing. But Christian Moral values are being taught no where.

If we and our leaders will continue to do so we will continue on our road to downfall.

LOVE IS BLIND

( ....is it what they call love ?)

"No way! Mom, what do you think I am? You think I would agree to marry that nerd?" said Raheela.

"My dear, Arshad is a very nice guy; above all, he is very simple and decent. He will keep you very happy, throughout your life. Guys like him are very rare and we know him since his childhood. He has a good job, smart looks and sincerity. What else do you want?"

"Whatever you say, my answer is NO."

Raheela was second in number among three of her siblings. Her elder sister got married to a local bank officer in the city of Abbottabad .Her younger brother was studying for his graduation degree in Mathematics. Born in the home of a primary school teacher, the three children were very hard working .Mr. Jamil always wanted that his children should get higher education than he had got.

Zareen , the elder daughter did her Masters in Education .Raheela was doing her Bachelors in Fine Arts. While he was in Inter ,she developed a keen interest for reading romantic novels. She would spend half of her pocket money in buying novels of her choice .Gradually she started imagining she was a princess and the Prince Charming would come some day to take her away. This was the reason of her rejection to Arshad's proposal.

One day, while returning from college, Raheela met a guy, named Aziz.He was nothing more than a road-side Romeo. He was after Raheela for many weeks and she was also a bit interested in him, as he completely fulfilled the criteria of being a novel hero- smoking, riding bikes rashly on the roads and becoming trouble for everyone. Of course he had the looks of a rough and tough guy.

Both were attracted to each other. So, a love affair started in the mist .Aziz would meet her regularly, after college. For Raheela's family, they knew that she was having afternoon classes, so she came late.

Soon their passion reached such heights that Aziz started coming to Raheela's home at night , to meet her on the roof.

One day, Raheela's elder sister saw both of them making merry while sitting in a city restaurant. When questioned about the whole affair Raheela confessed that she was with Aziz, he was her first and last love. Knowing the fact that he did not belong to their community and caste, Zareen warned Raheela of the consequences but it was of no use.

Raheela had decided that she would marry Aziz and everything would be fine. For her, it was a true , never ending love affair. As a result, they both ran away from their homes one night and got married.

Life was full of joy and happiness but this heaven was only to last for four weeks, after which Aziz showed the true side of his character. He started beating Raheela over trivial matters. One day, he announced that they were leaving for Multan, as he was going to start a small business there.

When they reached Mutlan, Aziz's attitude started getting worse day by day. One day, he took Raheela's jewllery and sold it. He returned home at night, fully drunk. Raheela could never imagine, even in her dreams, that this was the night which would change her life for ever.Aziz came home with a woman and three men. They discussed something with Aziz and gave him Rs.35000 in cash.Raheela was very happy , she thought it was a business deal. Yes! It was a business deal, a deal in which she was sold .

Raheela was taken by force. She found herself trapped in a red-light area, with prostitutes around. She tried to run away from the place but was caught by those who had bought her for Rs.35000. They forced her to do what they wanted but she refused every time.

One night, she was running to escape from the area. At once she heard a bullet being fired .Her left leg was badly injured and she was bleeding profusely. At once, she was taken for medical aid. She became unconscious. When she awoke, her left leg was motionless as it had been amputated.

After a few weeks, she was discharged from the hospital .The people who had bought her, treated her face with acid, to make her look terrible. They made her sit in the central square of Multan, to beg for money.

It so happened that every day Arshad would go to his bank from the same pathway where Raheela used to sit begging. Every day Arshad would put a penny in Raheela's hand, assuming that she was a woman totally rejected by the world Raheela on the other hand would always say to herself, " It is true that Love is blind always".
